Queensland based adventure park Happitat and café Home of Walden entered Voluntary Administration on 7 July 2026.  Nick Lancaster and Kaily Chua of Rodgers Reidy were appointed as Joint and Several Administrators of: 

• Happitat Lamington National Park Pty Ltd (Administrators Appointed);
• Happitat Adventure Parks Pty Ltd (Administrators Appointed);
• Homeofwalden Pty Ltd (Administrators Appointed); and
• Naviq Capital Pty Ltd (Administrators Appointed).

Happitat Adventure Park 

Happitat Adventure Park is an award winning adventure park and iconic Queensland ecotourism adventure experience located in the Gold Coast Hinterland and is just 55 minutes from the Gold Coast and 90 minutes from Brisbane.  It attracts over 300 customers a weekend after a very short operating period, with exceptional levels of customer satisfaction.

Happitat is the world’s first cliff park set 400 meters above the ancient rainforest canopy of Lamington National Park in the Gold Coast Hinterland.  Happitat features a highly developed, premium brand that commands global recognition, having been named by Time Out as the fourth-best experience in the world for 2026.

Home of Walden

Beautifully positioned adjacent to the iconic Rosins Lookout, the Walden Cafe serves as the welcoming home base for the Happitat Adventure Park shuttle service. 

The cafe sits on an expansive, approximately 53-acre property, which includes a substantial dedicated carpark accommodating around 120 vehicles to seamlessly handle high visitor volumes. 

It combines breathtaking, panoramic views with exceptional coffee and great food prepared by the passionate and creative Chef Gerhard, the Walden Cafe has established itself as a prime regional hotspot. The café offers a complete destination experience where guests can sit back, relax, and take in some of the best views the hinterland has to offer.

The Administrators are continuing to operate the café through the Administration period and encourage the community to continue showing its support for this fantastic business and its staff. Parties who may be interested in acquiring the café should contact the Administrators promptly to discuss the opportunity. 

What Happens Now

The Administrators have begun an urgent review of the companies’ finances, operations, customer orders, and operational capabilities. The goal is simple: preserve as much value as possible for creditors and customers while exploring a path forward for the businesses.

This will involve:

• Calling for expressions of interest from strategic and financial investors;
• Investigating potential sale opportunities for some or all business assets; and
• Considering restructuring proposals through a Deed of Company Arrangement (DOCA).

A Message to Customers and Creditors

We understand that our appointment may be upsetting news for employees, customers, and creditors. We are continuing to trade the Home of Walden and are conducting expression of interest campaigns for the possible sale or recapitalisation of the Happitat and Home of Walden businesses.  We are optimistic that an outcome will be achieved which will preserve the continuity of the businesses and employees’ jobs.
